Moms on Strike

piggybookI just saw this comment from “Mom on strike” and had to reply in a post:
I NEED HELP with my two boys 15 and 17, my husband-51 and my mom, none of them will do anything or help me in any way. I don’t get it. Our daughter who is 20 is very neat. She will purge her room etc two times a year. Now she is in college and is very neat. What happened!! What can I do.
Please help.
Amy

This Week: Stock up on extra school supplies

pencils
This is the best time of year to buy school supplies. The prices just don’t get any lower. I saw spiral notebooks for ten cents each! Take advantage of the good pricing and buy a few extra spirals, two-pocket folders, pens or glue sticks and keep them on hand. I store extras in my office closet. So the next time one of my son’s needs a new folder–tomorrow— I’ll be ready.[LG]Here’s a dorm room check list.[/LG]

Kid Clutter Hack: Dirty Basketball

laundryIf you’re tired of being the nagging mom from hell, constantly yelling “Clean up your room!” try making neatness a game.
This works best with impressionable younger children. It is probably a waste of time with teenagers, so start early.
A mom interviewed in the New York Daily News came up with Dirty Basketball.
She put a basketball hoop over a laundry bag in her son’s room. She rewards “baskets” of dirty clothes with quarters.
“Never underestimate the power of play,” she said. “And money!”
