Eco-Tip: Rubberwood
August 28, 2008
When shopping for the perfect piece of furniture to organize your kitchen, kid’s room, jewelrey, books, media or entry way, think RUBBERWOOD.
Did you know?
Rubberwood is a plantation grown hardwood from the maple family and is an ideal choice for furniture manufacturing because of its durability and tendency to resist shrinking, warping or cracking. After its 26-30 years of latex production, the rubber trees are cut down and new ones are planted. So, unlike other woods that are cut down for the sole purpose of producing furniture, rubberwood is used only after it completes its latex producing cycle and dies, making it eco-friendly. Rubberwood is a durable, inexpensive and earth-friendly choice for home furnishings.
