Can’t Let Go of Old Baby Clothese? Here’s the Solution!
October 21, 2008
A lot of us have old baby clothes that we just can’t bear to part with – a little pink Easter dress or something Grandma gave us when Junior was born…
Fortunately, I was able to narrow it all down to just my favorite few from each of my three kids, which I keep in a zippered bag in a trunk in my living room. But I know several people who just can’t seem to do that.
Here are a couple of great ideas for keeping those same memories, in slightly different form:
Make a quilt from the baby clothes (if you can bear to take scissors to them :)) Maybe even make one for each child from all their own clothes. You can cut some of the clothes into patches of fabric to sew together, while leaving some of you favorites moderately intact to appliqué on to solid squares. If you’re not that crafty, there is a site called Bluebird Gardens that will do it for you from the old clothes you send to them!
Another idea -particularly good for doll or teddy bear collectors- is to dress the teddy bears or dolls from your collection in your favorite outfits.
How do handle the slew of cute clothes you can’t let go of??
Great advice. Currently we are storing my daughters clothes in hopes that someday she will have a sister. However, after a few years, a quilt might be nice.

This is a really great idea. And what a wonderful keepsake for yourself or the kids when everyone is grown up.
Passing it on to your child’s children as their baby blanket would be so precious.
