I spent about 2 hours going through old files this morning, shredding and tossing and making new files. I felt like I was my own client, and that felt great! In the midst of this happy toss-fest, I got to wondering why I was able to sit myself down and do the work alone, while so many people need the help of a professional organizer to accomplish the same result.
Most clients are:
** Overwhelmed; stuck and unable to make progress on their own
** Unsure of the decisions they are making in the process

Getting organized is hard enough. Trying to organize your own life, and each of your children’s lives can quickly become overwhelming. I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes you can’t even get organized enough to get organized!

Are You Stuck in Clutter Limbo?

Every once in a while, I get overwhelmed by a feeling of disorder.
It hit me last night.
I realized what was causing it: too many items of questionable use lying around. These things aren’t obviously clutter, because MAYBE they’re useful. But maybe not.
That phone toy might be broken, or maybe it just needs a new battery. Would this CD work if I wiped it off, or is it permanently scratched? Did I stop reading this novel, fifty pages in, because I didn’t like it or because I just misplaced it? Etc. Continue Reading
