How to Recycle Your Stuff
September 11, 2007
Once you’ve decided to part company with your stuff, pass it on. I always find it gratifying to find someone who will use and appreciate the things I no longer need. The following organizations allow you to post your unwanted items online and connect with someone who can use them.
**Freecycle
**Freecycle Earth
**Free Sharing
**Sharing is Giving
**Reuse it Network
This process reduces waste, saves on resources and strengthens community.
If you have multiple items, you might prefer to make one donation instead of posting individual items online. If you aren’t sure of the donation options in your area, call the United Way at 2-1-1. Tell them what you want to donate. They will provide you with an agency in your area. Another option is to check your city or county website. I found an extensive list of options for our area on the county’s website.
If you’ve taken a hard look at your stuff and have decided it’s not in good enough shape to pass on, try recycling. Earth 911 will direct you to recycling in your area. Check there first, before throwing things in the trash.
That is good advice. I have so much stuff that needs to be recycled, its just piling up.
