10 quick and easy organising ideas

People often think they need to have huge blocks of time to make any progress with organising.
That’s not true.
Like Flylady says, “you can do anything for 15 minutes”.
Here are some ideas when you have a spare 5 or 10 minutes:
1. Organise your kitchen junk drawer.
2. Check for any about-to-go-off food in the fridge.
3. File or delete 10 emails.
4. Write out your shopping list.
5. Go around your house and empty all the rubbish bins.
6. Go through your RSS feed reader and organise your blogs.
7. Clean your kitchen counters.
8. Plan your menu for the week.
9. Go through a magazine with the sole intention to only pull out articles you actually want to read.
10. Compress and crop some photos
My challenge to you
1. Print out this list.
2. Aim to do one of these tasks every day for a week.

I love this list. Here’s something I do.
11. Brush the dog and/or the cat. Keeps the house and the creatures cleaner, so you cut down on vacuuming. Two chores done!
Great ideas. An idea is to swipe your bathroom surfaces. Keeps the bathrooms cleaner longer.
I love this! It’s so encouraging. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed on my days off when I look at all that needs to be done. I need to learn to take it one small task at a time and realize that EVERYTHING I do makes a difference.

So true. It really IS easy to find 5 minutes to do these things. I read somewhere that if you can accomplish a chore in 5 minutes, you should do it RIGHT NOW. E.g., I empty the dishwasher in the morning while the coffee is brewing. By the time the machine is unloaded, my morning caffeine treat is ready.
Donna: That is exactly what I do. While water is boiling for coffee I feed the dog and the cat, empty the dishwasher, skim the paper, and next thing you know, I’m caffeinating.

My question to you is: after you do #9, what do you do with those articles (recipes?) you want to save? This has always been an issue for me. I like to clip out recipes that look interesting, but never know how or where to organize them for future reference. I store financial papers in a file cabinet in my den, but this is not handy enough for cooking.
Great tips. however , once started into doing one of these things I usually get sidetracked 7 my 10 mins is now 30 or an hour!! 🙂

Set a timer. I also get sidetracked if I don’t use a timer.
