Gardening In Urban Areas? Think Vertical!
April 28, 2011
Amanda, a gardener that lives in an urban city, grew a garden on her patio door with a shoe organizer! No floor space required! Learn how:
“A great way to grow vertically is by using an over the door shoe organizer similar to this one.
The pockets are about 12″ deep and 4″ wide. I hung mine over the storage door on my patio but I am sure you could string it up all kinds of places with wire or cable (it gets heavy, use mix not soil).
It works for greens and herbs but I’ve also done strawberries, green onions, baby carrots and radishes. Thought I’d share as it’s a great way to grow a lot of plants in a small space or even on a balcony or other area where there is no floor space.”
